Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

A waitress gets it from a cook, where all the creativity comes from the stylist, also a hair cut last more than a dinner.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Boy, I hope there's enough room for me to give my answer-opinion....

#1- We hairdressers don't make as much money as you folks think we do. Some do, that's if you're paying a high price for your service %26amp; that takes time to get to that point.

#2-I personally had to go to school and get state licensed in order to cut your hair...waitresses don't need a license.

I wouldn't want my waitress at IHOP etc. cutting, perming or highlighting my hair.

#3-I have been "just cutting hair for 24 years" and I have the vericose veins and carpal tunnel to prove it.

#4- With ALL the money I make I should be able to afford surgery for #3. But, if I paid for medical insurance it would take at least half of my twice a month paycheck which would then leave me about 300.00. And yes that includes those tips. Not much for 24 years worth of experience.

#5- Maybe if we didn't get tips the whole hair care industry would charge the public $50.00 a crack on average for a regular old hair cut.

#6- TIPS= T=TO I=INSURE P=PROPER S=SERVICE

#7- I also have to decipher between what are saying to me as a stylist and what you actually want

#8- I could go on but I think you get what I'm saying.........

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Aren't most hairstylists independent contractors? I think this comparison is like apples and bananas. Do you tip the cable guy? Report It

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Don't hairstylists generally set their own prices? I always wondered if I should tip the repair guy? You know I tried to tip the bag boy at the grocery store but he says they can't accept tips. You know to tip a waitress, bellhop, driver and so on are just givens......just a thought. Report It

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

a waitress has a demeaning job, hairdressers get more respect and pay than waitresses, so the tip is not as needed.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

because hairstylists make about 20-30 an hour. waitresses make less than minimum wage.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

I tip my hairstylist more than a waitress. I tip a waitress 15% and a hairstylist 20%.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

I always tip my hairdresser more. Cuz afterall, she's got my hair in her hands.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Because a lot of Americans care more about food then their appearance. This is why America is a leading Country on the obesity subject.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Waitresses get paid $2.13 an hour. Hair stylists get at LEAST minimum wage. Also, it's easier to find a decent stylist than it is a waitress.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

great question!!

I've always heard, the stylist makes damn good $$, plus a waitress dont. they are runnin their legs off for you a decent meal, and getting everything you can ask for. A stylist just cuts hair.....I always tipped my hair stylist at least $5-$7 ON top of the bill....a good waitress will get $10 from us, and it's 4-5 people she's serving

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

I tip hairstylers more cuz they're job is harder and i think they do a pretty damn good job.. lol. waitress's i tip them 10% of the total.. like its supposed to be.. ?

plus if u get a job as a waiter, u can't expect much cuz ur job isn't really good, a hairstylist in my opinion should earn more.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Hairstylists have higher base pay

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

In Australia - we tip neither and its great. I am not a tight **** by any means but i went to USA once and it drove me mad. Are you all so lazy that you wouldnt do your job properly if not for the tips........have some pride people.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

I tip my barber 25% and I usually tip a waiter or waitress 20%.

Don't sell a waitress short. It is not the quality of food but the service. Were you offered more whatever, drinks filled etc etc. You aren't tipping a waitress for the food, you go to the restaurant for the food, you tip the waitress for the service.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

You should be tipping them the same amount, the rules on tipping are the same.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

cuz food gives us alot of nutrition, because we crave food and it gives our taste buds pleasure. a hair cut doesnt do shite really.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Gee, I don't know where that is, but I tip my stylist more, usually 25 percent (and if the cut looks really good,I give her 30 percent). To a waitress, I usually leave at least 20 percent (and 25 percent if the service was extra special; sometimes I leave more if the restaurant goofed up to let her know it wasn't her fault...if the steak is burned or whatever). Anyone getting less than at least 17 percent should think about their ability and, if she thinks she's doing an excellent job (with her customers coming back), perhaps she should start looking elsewhere for employment. Sometimes it's because you have a cheap clientele (no offense, seniors, but we all know you tend to tip less) or someone on a budget trying to get more for their money (and saving on the stylist's tip).

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Probably because we think hair stylists make more money than a waitress would. I really wish bosses would just pay their employees more and the whole thing with tips would just go away. Just like the sales tax we pay on goods we buy, it's just another thing for the consumer to deal with that we could do without.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

As a hairstylist, I don't make as much as people think a hairstylist does. I've heard of waitresses bringing home up to $300 a night, where I could bring home anything from 8 bucks to 70.

Although I'm sure waitresses have a very demanding job, catering to hungry customers, a stylist has to cater to the person's self image. I had done a color today, I spent nearly three hours on this person and I did not recieve any tip whatsoever. It's as much of an insult as if she were to give me a couple dollars. I couldn't just get her order of what haircolor she wanted and send it back, bring it out to her, ask her how it is, and bring the bill. There is a lot of schooling, a license, and my out-of-pocket costs to stay updated on education and tools. Many people have no idea how much tools cost to make them look good, and yes they ave to be replaced every so often. My scissors, for example, I bought last year for $350.00, and that's not even the expensive pair. So our paychecks help pay the bills, but our tips will also pay them along with the things we need to make our clients look and feel their best.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

Frankly you shouldn't tip your waitress more than your hairstylist. Waitresses should get like 15%-20% and the same goes for hairstylists. So really they should be getting about the same. But maybe sometimes waitresses get more because whoever is tipping happens to tip on the high end for waitresses and the low end for hairstylists.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

hair grows back but you cant take out the spit in your food.

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

because the next time you go to eat at the same place you will get batter service, also will get to now the waitress will remember you for your tips

Why do people tip waitress more than Hairstylists?

hairstylist here!

i work alone so i have to go get it done and pay for it, too. my shampoo, cut , blowdry costs 40 and i tip 20. some people would say that's a bit excessive, but she does a great job (won't leave where she works - besides, i like working alone), i never make an appointment (like i want MY client to do) because i never know when i won't be busy. my cut grows out so well i only get it done a few times a year. i have never told her how to do my hair - she just does it - and i love it. all i have to do is sit and she does the rest.

tipping a waitress is about the same for me.

normally, if all i have to do is sit and be taken care of, the bigger the tip. i work for tips, so i tip well; unless, that is, you aren't good at it.

my husband and i eat breakfast out every Sunday and the bill is always less than 15 and tip 5. we went out last night and the waitress took our order and we didn't see her at our table the rest of the meal. other people checked on us, but our waitress was too busy eating her dinner to worry about ours. she got NO tip, but i did go out to my car and get an envelope, put cash in it and gave it right to the guy who did HER JOB.

depends on the SERVICE i get. great service=great tip

poor service=poor to no tip
