Because the world is full of narrow minded twits who cant see what hard working people they are missing out on just cause that person doesnt fit into the clone like suit and tie image of the perfect employee. I have 3 tattoos but I have never taken a sick day and I work bloody hard as I was raised by my grandparents I believe in a fair days wage for a fair days work.

I totally agree about the hair and think its discrimination when they dont hire people ith tattoos or more imaginative hair or clothing maybe we should just let companies grow boring penguine suited cloan then maybe they would be all happy.

i guess it's because some people hate to see someone be different! i happen to love those hairstyles which is why i experiment with my own hair. your hair doesn't define what kind of employee you are and if they can't understand that then they don't diserve to have you as an employee, because these kinds of hairstyles require patience, time, effort, originality, and all kinds of traits any employer should want to have in an employee!!!

Well i agree really but to get a choppy fringe and dye my hair black/red and look like a rocker already costs alot and takes alot of products couldn't go for a hair style like that although it would be really awsome if i could...hair isn't everything personality is but people tend to pre-judge those with un-convential hair.

The reason people with origional thought and unusual apperance are not as easy to employ is that they have origional thought and do not just follow the crowd so would not be easy to mold and force into a box. To jump when told and ask how high like the other moldable employees

Ya so you want to go stereotype the other way. In the real world (wake up) people dont want to hire people who do not have the proper attire or appearance they require. Some have standards ya know. Its just a cold hard fact that the average person wouldnt want a freaky looking person babysitting their kids, or being their nurse at the hospital. Its a fact of life, get over it. If you want to be fringe, then get a job that allows it. Otherwise, get over it and grow up.

Because your hair is radical, spikey, colored, out there, wierd-do. You do not look like you will fit in and be a team member. It shows you make poor decisions in the most basic of life decisions. You can not adapt to the norm. You can not follow instructions. Your hair looks to be a safety hazard. You spend all your time on your hair. Your hair will distract from the business operation. You will scare customers away.

Quit looking at this from your little perch of self absorbed acrimony. You look wierd. Most people are not comfortable around wierd. If you choose to be radically different from 99% of the population do not expect to fit in with 99% of the populations. Look for a job at an exotic clothes or music store. Or here's a novel idea, cut your hair. Or better yet quit wasting your time tracking down all these products and hair styling professionals and start your own business and then let's see what business choices you make.

they show a refusal to be bound by convention, and many employers hate that...especially when they can't spell well.

In many jobs there are health and safety reasons for having more conventional hair styles, eg catering, healthcare. Also, in jobs which involve direct customer contact, an unusual hairstyle can distract the customer and, whether you like it or not, it can make customers wary and may result in lost trade. Some jobs actively encourage different appearances, eg creative jobs (hairdressing is one!).

Have you noticed how management are nearly all clones of each other without an original thought in their bodies? It is like to climb the corporate ladder they sacrifice their uniqueness.

The business world is still very conservative which is why they like uniforms so they can have cloned employees. They do not like people who deviate from the company line whether it be in the form of dress and grooming, thought or deed.
