Hair Question??

i cannot get my hair to grow for anything!! it grows but, i told the stylist 2 just cut of THE DEAD ENDS ONLY, and she cut it off 2 inches!! everytime it gets 2 the point where it was, i have 2 get it cut again becasue the ends are dead!! i use a flat iron everyday. if i dont flat iron my hair it looks like crap though so im going 2 do it everday. do yall know anyway i can do it without spliting my ends?

Hair Question??

Make sure you use something to protect your hair while you are using the flat iron. I know what you mean about having to use it, I'm in the same boat. Just make sure you protect it with a heat protecting spray (Tresemme makes one that works very well) Then make sure you go and get a trim about once a month. Don't tell them to cut off the dead ends, tell them to trim it. Hope that helps!

Hair Question??

If the stylist is cutting 2 inches everytime you get it cut, maybe you need to get it cut more often. The longer you wait between haircuts, the more and further the ends split. Try having about a half inch cut off every 6-8 weeks and see if you can tell a difference. Make sure you use a good conditioner and don't wash your hair every day. Try washing it every 2-3 days and the flat iron may not dry it out as much.

Hair Question??

No, unless you stop using the flat iron you will continue to dry out the ends. Sorry.

Hair Question??

well if u use the irons every day of course its going to keep splitting must use a protector cutting split ends is the only way to prevent them get a good salon treatment to use every week

Hair Question??

Get less trimmed off more often! You should get your split ends trimmed every few weeks if they are really bad.

If you use a flat iron everyday, buy a good heat protectant cream or spray. It will protect your hair from drying out from the heat.

Also, use a shampoo/conditioner made for split ends, and use a deep conditioner on your hair at least once every week to keep it from drying out.

Be gentle with your hair when you are straightening it, too; pulling too hard or too fast can cause the hair to break and causes split ends!

And always, always use a heat protectant when blow drying/straightening!!

What can I do to make my very curly hair poofier?

I just got my haircut and my new stylist said that the only way to fix my hair is to cut it all off and start over again. Now that she did that its REALLY short and looks kinda like a boy's cut. If I make it poofier it will look more girly. I've tried flipping my head over and blow-drying it and scrunching it really hard but none of that has worked. Will diffusing it work?

Thanks!

What can I do to make my very curly hair poofier?

Yes diffusing it will help. Also if your hair is naturally curly, a good curl definer will help. Curls Rock by Catwalk or Ringlet by Redken are good. Also try a good root boost. Root Boost by Catwalk or Guts by Redken is what I would suggest. And remember, if you got a lot cut off, your hair is in shock right now and won't be very cooperative. Give it a few days to get in the groove of how you want to fix it. Good luck!

What can I do to make my very curly hair poofier?

get a fork and hold it real tight and stick it in the wall socket!

What can I do to make my very curly hair poofier?

no diffuse blow dry your hair upside down and shake and shuffle your hair

Short hair undesirable?

... that's what someon told me.

I recently cut my hair short--choppy, layered, that stops a little before the end of the earlobe--and though my friends, and my parents, and even my stylist thinks that I look better than before, I have had little attention from men.

I used to be showered in attention, but now, the compliments and dates have slowed down to a trickle.

I am not butch, not by far, yet I am afraid that men think I am a lesbian, which I am not.

I asked a pseudo-friend of mine--he's pretty much an asshat, though--and he told me that short hair was undesirable and very much associated with being a dyke.

I feel pretty, I really do, but I'm worried that it might be true. Is it?

Brutally honest answers would be appreciated, thanks.

Short hair undesirable?

There is nothing inherently gay about any fashion choice. Those who answered above me correctly said that having short hair does not make you a lesbian or somehow less feminine. I would hasten to add that those two things are not the same. I have known some lesbians who were incredibly feminine.

I would hope that you would understand that this is a two-way street. In my experience, women (mostly pre-teens/teens) are very quick to greet any male questions about hair removal, makeup or wearing pink with "eewwwwww", "gross" or "gay". This is just as untrue as the response you seem to be encountering.

That said, you will encounter many people who see fashion choices as black and white, or, more appropriately, blue and pink. You can't really expect your choice of hair to please these people, but do you really want to?

It took me decades to figure out that I had the right to wear what I want to wear because I want to wear it, and comments similar to those of your pseudo-friend still make me doubt at times, but you can get past them. The key is to style yourself for yourself and not for those around you. This decision won't be without consequences, but it's probably one you can live with. If not, Cosmopolitan would not mind having one more subscriber.

Short hair undesirable?

That is not true! The only way you would look like a dyke is if your hair or you looked like a boy. But you dont so no. Short hair can also be pretty!

Short hair undesirable?

Maybe- I wouldn't think that- but to some extent I think that guys like longer (at least past the shoulder) better. Not too long but somewhere on your back.

Try curling the ends of your hair, and use lots of blush. I'm sure your dating will pick up :)

good luck.

as long as you know who you are, though, you're fine.

Short hair undesirable?

Of course it's not true, your friend is--what'd you say?--an asshat. Your hair does not make you who you are, and anyone who looks at someone with short hair and says "she's a dyke" is an idiot. I know lots of girls with short hair, all are beautiful and most of them have boyfriends. Just give it time. Short hair is not that common these days, and most guys are...shallow, to say the least.

Short hair undesirable?

There is men out there that want their lady to have short hair. Only the insecure and shallow will judge a female with short hair as a dyke. You wouldn't want to have anything to do with such narrow minded individuals that only judge an individual on their personal preferences.

Many guys compliment the hair because if they say you have beautiful body or beautiful lips, such statements might create an undesirable response from a female. Let's face it: Females love compliments but we feel uneasy when we think that a guy only see us as sex objects. Men are well aware that certain statements are told to certain females.

Enjoy your short hair and your femininity because a feminine lady is always more than her hair.

my hair sometimes looks like that, on a good day, most of the time the hair in front above my forehead gets loose and crazy and wants to dangle in front of my eyes, and the back is wild since my hair is wavy. What are some good products to make my hair stay like that, and should I get it cut a certain way? I havnt cut my hair at all, except trims, and its about the length in that picture. What can I ask a stylist to do?

and please no commentary from guys putting in their 2cents unless its helpful to my question, thanks

Each persons hair is unique like each person's finger print. You have to experiment with different things to find out what makes yours just right.

Hi. I 'm cutting my hair tomorrow. I have an oval facial shape, brown hair, and I'm thinking about getting side bangs, and layers and cut my hair to right below my shoulders. Does anyone have a good pic to show to the stylist?

Do barber colleges generally have dorms?

Do barber/hair stylist colleges have dorms? The only good hair colleges in my area are too far to drive to and from every day. I'm just 13, but I've been wanting to cut hair for a living since I was 11. I'm gonna stick with it, and now I need to start looking into a barber college. There's one in Gretna, but I hear bad things about it so I'm not going there. The next closest one is a good 3 hour drive away from where I'm currently living. So I need to know because I need to live somewhere close to the college. If they have dorms, I needn't worry about the living situation, but if there aren't any, I can make arrangements to get an apartment somewhere nearby. Thank you if you answer. =]

Do barber colleges generally have dorms?

Most of the cosmetology schools require you to communicate. My grandson attended one.

Do barber colleges generally have dorms?

I'm pretty sure you're going to have to get your own place close to the barber college.

I must say that I really enjoyed the previous comment -- I also believe barber school will require you to communicate.

Why do you tip hair stylists?

Are they on commission or independent contractors simpling renting space and making margin on products sold. I've always done good work in a service business but made my living off of margin and long hours. Secondly, 20% on a cut and color is huge and crazy or maybe I just don't understand how they are paid. Please, help me understand so I can be a better patron. My salon is great but already expensive! Thanks for any help offered!

Why do you tip hair stylists?

ok its not the traditional tip of percentile. its like $5 or less. the reason is because they do a great job. if they dont, no tip. stylist get paid differently depending on the salon. sometimes its independent and they have to rent a station. or its on commission or its based hourly. but you also have to remember most sylist have to buy their own products when it comes to curlers sprays etc.... its just to help up. but again it is NOT required. some salons charge so much that the tip is included. thast how i see it anyway

Why do you tip hair stylists?

Well I tip them because they are on comission and when they do a good job, you want them to know it. I know its already expensive but they dont get paid a ton. It's like tipping a waiter or something.

Where can I get a wave put in my hair in the Madison, WI area? And how much?

I would also like to know how well this works and if anyone has pictures from a website or anything like that (so I can show a stylist). I have very long straight hair (past the middle of my back) and am looking for a change, without cutting my hair.

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her h

I have shared my bad shredded haircut story with others and have yet to hear of any woman who wanted the length of her hair disrupted by anything other than defined layers. Why has this shredded cut happened to any of us? Long haired women want shiny, bouncy, healthy hair. This cut really does just look like split ends sticking out all over head and all the little pieces just snag and break. So in addition to making hair look damaged it seems designed to actually cause damage. Why is this technique ever used on fine, longhair?

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

As a hairstylist, I am not overly fond of the razor either. It works great on some textures. If someone wants a choppier or textured look on the ends, I do it with my scissors. It still keeps the ends looking nice, not shredded.

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

I think stylists make up crappy styles to see if they will actually catch on, if anyone will actually like them, maybe they take bets.

It's like a morbid curiousity and a way to break up the monotony of "the same except shorter".

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

I hate that new look. Worse then washing and not combing which was the thing about 12 or 15 years ago.

I cut my own hair now. I say i can do a marginal haircut free as apposed to paying someone who is good one day and lousy the other 4 days of the week. I used to be a salon owner. Not a hair dresser just an owner and they don't make'm like they used to. I

like a long bang and boy they butcher iot every time. Like they are deaf when i tell them I like it long. Excuse is to get off bad ends. Ha! Bull!

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

It is a technique used to make layers blend or to add volume and texture where there is none present. Often, with straight hair, whether it's fine, medium or coarse, when a blunt or straight edged cut is used, the layers do not blend. You can see horizontal or vertical lines in the hair. Chipping is supposed to prevent that. It does not "cause damage" but hair can look choppy and uneven if the technique is done properly. If you have little pieces snagging and breaking, it's isn't the cutting technique. Fine, straight hair, by the way, is quite difficult to cut and a straight line is even more so. Hairdressers that have been doing hair for more than a minute or two should have had enough experience to know when this technique is appropriate although I work with stylists who use this technique regularly. It actually is an excellent technique when applied properly. If you have had a bad experience with it yourself, I recommend asking your stylist for a more blunt cut or cleaner edge, or perhaps finding a stylist that regularly attends continuing education classes. Hairdressers often pick up techniques by seeing them done by co-workers but without an understanding of how the technique is supposed to function the results can be less than desirable. Not all hairdressers value continuing education. I would suggest you find one that does.

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

It is a misguided attempt to give you volume. Unfortunately not all hair behaves the same.

I know exactly what you mean. I have cut my own hair since I was 12. (Norton is a Girl)

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

The razor-cut hairstyle is common and hip amongs the HOng Kong fashion teens.

Guys and girls look the same.

It is so ugly, I think that hairdressers use the razor because they are lazy and this technique seems to CUT the service TIME SHORT. I have had the razor used on my hair before, and let me tell you. My hair was not nicely layered. Instead of my hair falling in gradual layers, they were short and long in ALL THE WRONG PLACES.

Why do stylists chip into the length of long fine hair? Does anyone actually want this done to her hair?

The razor should never be used on fine hair,it makes it to thin and frayed. It doesn't create volume,it actually takes out precious volume that us fine haired girls actually need. I have read that the enemy of fine hair is weight and it needs to be taken out. That's cr-p. I've had this fine hair on my head for 36 years, I know what works and what doesn't work on my hair better then a hairdresser. Razoring fine hair looks horrible and ruins it. I don't care what any stylist says. I've had it done to my hair without my permisson and it was ruined. The ends of my hair were so fragile that they broke and my hair was so incredibly thinned out that I looked like I was going bald. I loath razor cuts.

Hair help!!! PLEASE?

my hair is one inch long!

Good luck.

Hair help!!! PLEASE?

1 inch is too short for extensions. You need to have enough hair to cover the extension. Eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and you can try prenatal vitamins. No shampoo is going to help the hair grow. Try to be patient. I know it sucks. But in a month or two your hair will look better to you.

Hair help!!! PLEASE?

i don't know any shampoos or anything like that but you will probably just have to let it grow out.

Hair help!!! PLEASE?

There is really nothing to help your hair grow faster that is just a myth that using certain things to help the process! Actually I bet your hair looks really cute, but I know how it can be if you don't like your hair cut! The only thing I can think of is to get a wig. I have all kinds of wigs...but my hair is long I just wear them sometimes for a new dew!!! They also come with baseball caps attached to them were it looks like a pony tail out of the back. Also, I wanted to tell you...be glad you have at least a little bit of hair because my mother-in-law just got finished with KEMO and she has no hair. Just a tid bit of positive thinking! Maybe I'm half emo, I dunno.

Well, anyway, I'm planning on getting my fringe cut like theirs, and, get other parts of my hair trimmed/styled so it would match my fringe. I can't cut my hair too short, coz my parents might be against it.

I'm going to get it cut after school ends, (summer break) and I'm not sure WHEN I should cut it.

My hair's kinda fluffy, and it's thick too, and my hair color's black.

So... How and When?

What do I tell the stylist?

Get my hair to look like that?

tell ur stylist you want her to texturize your hair with thinning shears. this will help give it that fringe look but also reduce the fluffiness of it since its thick. You could bring in a picture to show her too. a razor cut would look nice, wich is usually done on dry hair.

Get my hair to look like that?

if you have thick, flufly hair dont go drastic because it wont look the same. Trust me.

Get my hair to look like that?

Fluffy thick black hair? Same with mine! I cut it shape right on my eyebrow and it looks so bad coz the root is lift up. Don't cut your fringe shorter then your eyes if you don't want to looks like me T_T. The only way to make it looks great is do ionic or use gel.

Get my hair to look like that?

i you do that and you hair is thick and fluffy then you have to put straighters on it everyday to make sure it stays flat and looking good

Why is it so hard to find Black Beauty Shops or Good Beauticians who do African American Hair??

I actually have had a really hard time finding someone to do my hair. I read on here some others are having the same issues. It seems that many Black Hair Care Providers can be very rude, nasty, and MOODY. They don't show up for appts. They want to do more than one person's head at the same time. The don't manage time well. Some act jealous when your hair gets or is LONG and they will want to CUT the hair saying its damaged. Whereas I've been in salon's where my partner goes to get his hair colored (WHITE Clients/Staff) They offer you Coffee, Lates, Cappucinos, Bottled Water shampoo/conditioner samples in small gift bags. Their salons are very, very clean they sell good products that help the hair grow. They are very timely and you don't have to wait forever or all day even for EXTENSIONS.

If you are not apart of the BLACK click they mess up your hair. I

found a good link to find good stylist here;

Why is it so hard to find Black Beauty Shops or Good Beauticians who do African American Hair??

that's awful. i am mixed and my hair is a mess. it's hard to find anyone to style my hair. my bf does my hair usually but she is busy. i just give up. ahhhh!

Can anyone help me with my bangs? It's not swaying correctly..?

When your blow drying your hair in the morning, do you use a round brush when drying your bangs? Because when you don't style them in the morning (with a round brush) they go like how your picture was.

So when blow drying your hair, pull the brush underneath your bangs, (while blowing the blow dryer over them) and simply just pull them outwards. Do this about 3 or 4 times, or until they are the way you want them.

(also btw, your bangs need to be grown out a bit, whoever cut them last made them too short!)

Here's a good roundbrush: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a...

let them grow out a little bet..

then part your hair to the side more..

then if that doesn't work..

put a bobby pin in them while they're drying it will cause them to sway like that

you cna try geling it a bit?

its cuz they are too short

mine go like that naturally

but if i straighten them they wnt

so i hae to shower and let them dry by themselves if i want them to go like that

Can anyone help me with my bangs? It's not swaying correctly..?

you have to part your hair the way you want it right when you get out of the shower. it will eventually stay like that, it may take a few days for it to want to stay in the place you want the hair in.

sorry its kinda hard to explain...

Can anyone help me with my bangs? It's not swaying correctly..?

who ever cut your bangs they cut it too short and too little bit of ur hair have the bangs grow out a bit more and try cutting it again but this time a little passed your eyebrows

Can anyone help me with my bangs? It's not swaying correctly..?

well it could be bcuz ur bangs are too short n too straight but try these out n se if it helps..use ur curling iron the way u would use ur straightner, from the scalp go to the tip of bangs n curl inward (toward ur forehead) not too much or u'll get a curl..or u can do the same thing with a round brush n a blowdryer

Can anyone help me with my bangs? It's not swaying correctly..?

for now, you can pin them back during the day. you need to train your hair (i know it sounds funny but it's true!) to sit the way you want. let them grow a little, and you should definitely cut more hair into the bangs. alot depends on how your hair naturally sits, and that girls hair (how you want yours to look) is heavily styled. blow dry your bangs with a round brush, sweeping them outward. but you definitely need more hair in your bangs. oh, and make a deep side part when you wear your bangs down, it'll help.

Can anyone help me with my bangs? It's not swaying correctly..?

Grow them out and next time have your hairstylist cut them thicker (so more of your hair gets turned into bangs). For me, flat ironing works, and so does combing it that way when they're wet and making sure to keep combing them so that they stay that way, but I know people who that doesn't work for, so you may want to give it a shot, and then if it doesn't work try some other tips.

Advice for cutting my daughters hair?

Well, my daughter is 2 1/2, and her hair has never been cut. I tried taking her to the salon, but she wouldn't sit in the chair. I also tried taking her to a salon just for kids. Her hair is really long, so most of the time I just keep it up. The front of her hair hangs in her face alot. I also want to cut it because it's summer, and the shorter length will be better. So, last night I bought a pair of hair scheers, and I am prepared to cut it myself. I am nervous though, I don't want to mess it up. I want to cut about 4 inches off, and give her side bangs. If any professional stylist have any advice, or even anyone who has cut ther own daughters hair before, it would be very helpful. Thanks!

Advice for cutting my daughters hair?

Have you tried taking her to the salon and having her sit on your lap? I had to do that to my son, he would cry as if the world was ending. Maybe if you put her in your lap and give her a lollipop, she will sit still. Good luck

Advice for cutting my daughters hair?

Cut it all off!

Advice for cutting my daughters hair?

I have cut my Daugheter's hair plenty of times... she is also 2 1/2 years old... if you want to cut the back of it, and don't want to mes it up, then i would make sure you don't try and just cut it off all at once, with the length, just take it slow.... and everything should fall into place, and when it comes to her sitting still, let her hold onto the comb while you are trying to cut with the scissors.... that's what i do with my daughter.... GOOD LUCK!

Advice for cutting my daughters hair?

Honestly my best advice would be to see if a stylist may be willing to make a trip by your house and do it there. It may be a little pricey, but unless you know how to cut hair it may not be a good idea to do it yourself. I'm not saying you aren't capable, but if it makes you that nervous to do it leave it to the professionals. Take your daughter out for a sundae or something after the hair cut for being brave.

Advice for cutting my daughters hair?

Because she's only 2 /12, it'll be really hard to keep her still and you might make a slight mistake. I heard that there was a mother who accidently cut her daughter's ear off. Not to scare you or anything. Even the salon could make a mistake if your daughter won't keep still. The best would be to cut it yourself because she's more comfortable with you doing it. But be very careful and if she makes a slight movement, step away and wait till she's calm or tell her to calm down and don't move cause you don't want any accidents. And how her hair looks now, will carry how she looks through life.

I want to kick relaxers and texturizers out of my life forever. will my hair fall out?

i have a question. I am of mixed race and i have just come to the realization that its true cutting your hair does not make it grow faster. my hair is healthy looking but shoulder length because i let my stylist go scissor happy. Well, i texturized my hair a few times (3 to be exact). it was 6 months in between each time. i have decided to quit because of the damage i have seen done to my hair after treatment. so i wanted to know. is it ok to just stop relaxing your hair or do i have to cut it all off and start over. i am very unattractive with short hair as i have tried it already. please help me. i dont want my hair to fall out.

I want to kick relaxers and texturizers out of my life forever. will my hair fall out?

Well.

My hair fell out [not completely lol] from using relaxers %26amp;it got really short and damaged. bleh..so I got my ends trimmed, %26amp;stopped using relaxers. Now two years later, my hair is starting to return to my original length [shoulder length].

So yeah..if you stop using relaxers and texturizers, just even out your ends %26amp;sooner or later [most likely later] it'll get healther. If you take care of it that is.

I want to kick relaxers and texturizers out of my life forever. will my hair fall out?

Where the natural hair meets the relaxed hair is the weakest part. If you could cut off the relaxer, that would be ideal. If not, use leave in conditioner, deep condition weekly, and try not to style your hair in a manner that would stress it greatly.

Reduce the tight braids, ponytails, hot stylers etc etc...and let it grow.

Oh but you are going to have to cut the relaxer off at some point, depnding on how healthy you hair is or how well it looks, you make not have to cut if off in one go.

How do i describe that i want a "scene" haircut to my stylist?

i really need help w/ this b/c im gettin my hair cut soon and i need some advice!!!!!

How do i describe that i want a "scene" haircut to my stylist?

u cud say u want short choppy hair with a feathered/razored fringe..

How do i describe that i want a "scene" haircut to my stylist?

Take a picture to your stylist so they know exactly what you mean.

Should I get a perm (I have natural Black hair)?

I want to get a haircut with razored ends, if that makes any sense. My old stylist said it wouldn't work unless my hair was chemically permed. So she cut my hair another way and it turned out awful (I cried). She is not longer my stylist... Anyway, I was wondering if she was right. Should I get the perm or keep my fro' alive?

Should I get a perm (I have natural Black hair)?

Ok, I was 10 when I first got my hair relaxed. My hair was REALLY thick, tightly curled %26amp; long. My mother thought it would be easier to manage but it broke off a short while later. Then they cut my hair into a short bob and I had braids for a year or two. After the braids my hair was growing back so mother made me get it pressed. I pressed my hair from the age of 13-18 and it was STILL hard to manage because of how long it took to do, and one drop of moisture would make it frizzy. So when I was 18 and ready to go to college I decided to get a relaxer because it would be easier to manage. I've been relaxing my hair ever since but I'm careful not to do it too much and keep my ends trimmed. The point of my long story is to tell you that once you relax you hair, it will never go back to it's complete natural state. So you have to decide what style you like more. You may want to press it because then it's not permanent and you can switch from straight to fro anytime!

Should I get a perm (I have natural Black hair)?

No!!Stay away from them, please! Get another haircut from a different stylist. First though, make an appointment for a consultation to see what the stylist has to say, If she suggest a perm instead of a good cut %26amp; some conditioning treatments RUN!!!! If you feel comfortable with the new stylist, then make an appointment for a condioning treatment %26amp; a haircut. This way in a short amount of time, it will get cut off (several times ) %26amp; grow new hair %26amp; that ugly perm will go away. Good luck!

Should I get a perm (I have natural Black hair)?

I could see why she would recommend a relaxer because the razored ends would be more defined if the hair was straight. If you hair is curly kinky it would be difficult to see the hair cut let alone be difficult for the stylist to cut unless they really knew what they were doing.

I personally don't have a problem with getting my hair relaxed. I keep it moisturized and well maintained to where I have nearly no breakage. I don't get them every month though. I do try to stretch them out because money wise I can't afford it and I want to give my hair a break once in a while.

Want more info? Check out this web forum I go to wear ladies who have black hair talk about it. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

Should I get a perm (I have natural Black hair)?

yeah, a razored cut looks better on straight hair; however if you don't like wearing your hair straight all the time you can't just go back to your natural texture after getting the relaxer.

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

Okay, here is mine. I had long hair and the ends were looking very bad because I had failed to go to the salon like I should have. I went to go get it cut up at supercuts because my boyfriend always went there to get his done and I actually liked their work. Well the woman cut off a lot, I was shocked when I say the first locs of hair fall to the floor, but then she gave me a super cool Aeon Flux type hair style with most of the length being at the front of my hair.

Now for the bad part, I went to Regis to get a relaxer 2 weeks later. The stylist raved about my cut, but said she saw a few stray ends she need to trim. I said sure, she cut and relaxed, then styled my hair in a weird bowlish cut. I thought nothing of it until I was doing my hair the next day and it was a totally different cut. She had cut off the ends in the front, that totally made the cut and had gave me a Salt n Pepper type haircut. I had to get it fixed and cut shorter and I have hated my hair ever since.

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

That question about Regis really made you upset huh? I never really had a bad haircut tho.

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

I had a shaver and tried giving myself a buzz cut.

Couldn't get it even.

Wound up shaving it down to the bone.

Thankfully my skull can pull it off!

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

The good thing about hair is...it grows back !

I usually have good experiences with stylists, no matter where I go. However, I once just needed a quick trim and I said "just trim the ends please" and I walked out of there with a modified mullet. It may have looked OK on a dude, but on me, well lets just say I looked like I could be Rosie or Ellen's date.

EEEEEK!

I wore lots of makeup and hats and little butterfly pins in my hair for about 3 weeks before it was long enough to curl, etc.

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

I went to get highlights done. My aunt had given me a gift certificate. So I go into the salon and they make me sit in the gal's chair (that the gift cert. was for), and after about 10 minutes she comes out in a huff an throws some books on my lap, telling me she would be right back. Ten minutes later she returns and asks me what color I want the highlights. She's obviously pissed, so I say, I'm not sure what to call it. Something not to white, more golden in color. She says, "Well, I can't do it like that. You're goingt to have to tell me what color you want". So I can tell it is bad news, and I say, "you know what, I better just come back when I'm sure what I want". She starts yelling at me saying I wasted her appointment time. So I yell back, "You're the one who kept me waiting 20 minutes!"

I decide, I have to use the gift certificate, so I'll just go back to the salon on a day that the same lady isn't there. I find out she's off on Fridays. So I make an appointment for a Friday.

I get this nice Spanish gal. She's all friendly at first. I show her a picture of what I wanted: thin, caramel highlights. She says, "sure I can do that". So she starts mixing the color, etc, etc. and as she does, she starts telling me how her husband was calling her non stop and how she's ingnoring him because he deserves it for cheating on her with her best friend. She's applying the color and going on and on about her personal problems. She eventually starts crying, but now I have color over half of my head, so it's too late to run out of there. Eventually, she finishes, puts my under the dryer, and I'm just praying, "please, let this come out OK."

The hair washer starts rinsing me out, and the colorist comes back. She looks at my hair and she seems to panic. She says, "put some of this on it". (To this day I have no idea what she poured on in such a panic). I knew I was done for.

So I was so upset, I left with a wet head. I get home and style my hair as usual. After it was dry, I had white highlights on the top of my head and orange ones on the bottom!

I ran to Sally Beauty Supply and re-dyed my hair the original color, with the assistance of the salesman at Sally's. Luckily, or because he was moved to compassion by my awful experience, he steered me right and fixed my problem dye job.

I didn't get highlights again for a year and a half, needless to say , at another salon. Whenever I can, I tell people DON'T GO TO TODAY'S HAIR %26amp; NAILS in Boca!!!

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

My worst haircut happened when I was 7 months pregnant. My hair was to the middle of my back, hanging in long black natural curls. I wanted it short, so I wouldn't have to worry about it after baby was born. I told her I wanted it shoulder length. I guess she never had too much experience with natural curls. I couldn't see the mirror as she started cutting. By the time she was done, I had a helmet. She cut my hair shoulder length, but my hair curled up to just under my ears. I looked like I just gotten a bad perm. It wasn't even long enough to put into a ponytail. I tried not to cry, but those pregnancy hormones.... I never went back to that place again!

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

oh i feel your pain, when i was in high school i got my hair cut at ulta and i wanted something fun so back then, the lady was gonna give me a hair cut kinda like the one you described that you got at supercuts, well she's cutting and cutting and i feel the scissors getting closer and closer to to my head and when she is all done i have a hair cut that looks nothing like what she was supposed to do. honestly my hair was shorter than a boys. i started crying ( i couldn't see what she was doing, i had to take my glasses off while she was cutting my hair and i am blind without them) and didn't pay for my hair cut. my mom felt so bad for me she said i could get extensions, but my hair was too short even for them!!! it finally grew out (take vitamins for hair and nails, my hair grew so quick when i took those) and make sure that you always tell the stylist what you want, and tell them, that your a victim of a horrible haircut. they tend to be really careful with you then.

i feel your pain though, don't worry it will grow back before you know it, and then it will turn into a funny story to tell.

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

I think my worst hair experience was when I was 10. My mother dragged me to this out of the way one station salon. I think it was in the lady's home. I picked a style out of a magazine. Mother was drunk and when the stylist wanted to straighten my hair, I looked to Mother for advice. She said it was ok. The next morning I woke up for school and my hair was sticking out all over! I woke Mother (big mistake) and she spent an hour yelling about me getting my beautiful curls straightened. For years, I thought it was my fault. But what stylist would take a 10 year olds word on anything. Mother had made the decision and had blocked it out! In fact, she didn't even remember taking me to the stylist. Well, she got out a razor blade and started whacking at my hair to "fix" it. It ended up very short and I cried for weeks.

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

Well..I was about 5 years old when my mother (who wasnt drunk) took me to a salon to get my long hair permed. My hair was beautiful "that didn't need to be permed" as my dad told me but I guess me or my mom insisted.

Anyway, my mom specifically asked for loose spirals but at the end the salon lady totally ruined my perfect erm by making it way too tight, tried to fix the mistake by cutting it and in the very end I had an Afro! I left the salon in tears, and my mom tore that salon lady a new as*hole and my mom being such a saint told the manager what happened and she didnt have to pay. Needless to say, it is a funny laugh now, but then, it was awful! I was teased and called "popcorn Head" haha!!!!!

And now...I wanted side bangs and I made the mistake of letting a friend cut them...she did a really great job before, but she cut off way too much...bah! Now I can't wear my hair down...

Tell me about the worst haircut or worst hair experience?

Here is my worst hair experience: I asked my friend (a beautician) to give me a perm with loose curls and ended up with a poodle perm. It was so bad that I came home and my husband just burst out laughing uncontrollably. It was so horrible and I didn't know how to tell my friend that I hated it. I hot rolled my hair for months to tame it, but she never did my hair again.

I have a question from all of you HAIR STYLISTS out there! best answer= 10 pts :]?

what steps would you take do to your customer's hair who showed you this picture and wanted their hair just like this:

http://i1.tinypic.com/4u31077.jpg

will you be using a razor or scissor or both?

to do what?

where are you cutting layers, etc?

please be specific, no sentence answers or whatever.

iwannaknowpleeeasee dontsaskwhy thankyou 閳?ily if you answer nicely :D

I have a question from all of you HAIR STYLISTS out there! best answer= 10 pts :]?

I would use both the razor and the scissors but that is my style of cutting. I have found that I can reach the same objective with either tool.

That is a shag cut in that photo. I could mimic that hairstyle provided that the customer's hair was the same texture and there was enough Length to cut those layers into the style. Even to the sides are short the top is long.

Hair Growth?

How to make your hair grow faster?

I just got it cut and the stylist cut it way too short!!! Right now it's about three inches above my shouders - way too short to pull back. If it was just two inches longer, I wouldn't have this problem. Any suggestions on speeding up the growth of it?

How to make your hair grow faster?

I just got scalped the other day, Jen, and I'm not a happy camper either......Ya just have to live with it.......although, I did feel better after a few vodkas last night...... ;) Now we both have to exercise patience and wait till it grows out......

How to make your hair grow faster?

I go to school for massage and I remember when we were learning the scalp, my teacher said that scalp massage does stimulate the hair to grow. You should also pull the hair close to the head out wards (like you are going to make a pony tail) about once a day as well. Scalp massage stimulates the hair folicles to grow. I know there are some shampoos that are supposed to work as well - supposedly Arbonne has something.

The breath problem: ChewingGum, mouthwash and 4x tooth brushing a day To The Rescue!!

DO NOT wash your hair more, that will make it greasy!

Massage isnt a good idea either for the same , This all will make it greasy and brushing/drying with a hairdryer will destroy your hair =%26gt; you'll have to cut it again!

How to make your hair grow faster?

Okay, there is no sure fire way to make your hair grow faster, however three things you should do to support hair growth:

1.) While shampoo-ing your hair, massage your scalp.

2.) Drink lots and lots of water, not milk, water is what you need.

3.) Exercise regularly, a healthy body promotes hair growth.

And thats about all you can do besides get extensions haha = )

How to make your hair grow faster?

trim you hair every new moon it will grow fast

How to make your hair grow faster?

i have been reading some of the answers people have posted, and well they r all wrong. don't cut your hair, it wont grow faster, just fuller. what really helps, and i have donw this, is stay in the sun! during the summer months, it is proven that hair grows faster than in winter months. good luck!

How to make your hair grow faster?

well i use a wiccan spell, and i realy has worked for me so who knows....

hold your hair and say

'Bind it, twist it,

make it grow, three time three shall this hair show

So mote it be'

this spell is not mine, i just picked it up.

How to make your hair grow faster?

I grew mine for about 2 years, and most of the answers here work. Scalp massages, brushing often (at least three times a day), trim your hair every two months at least (some say in the full moon). Don't use hair gel/spray.

Overall, keep it healthy and it will grow as fast as it can go.

How to make your hair grow faster?

That happened to me about 3 months ago. Actually after your hair gets over the "shock", it will still be growing on its own. The best thing is to give it a good brushing every night or morning. Also, if there is anyway you can braid it, that helps in the growing process. But there is really no way to make it grow faster then your normal growth rate. The brushing and braiding keeps it healthy, but it will grow at the rate it always has.

How to make your hair grow faster?

natural sunshine will make it grow 1/2 inch a month.

How to make your hair grow faster?

Your personal hair growth is all in the hands of YOU. The way you take care of your hair will grow it back. Cleanse frequently, condition, stay away from heated appliances and DO NOT CUT OR TRIM YOUR HAIR! Massage (stimulate) your scalp 2-3 minutes each day. Eat a healthy diet with protein (hair is made of protein) and be sure to get your iron and zinc! best of luck!

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

I went to Toni %26amp; Guy and had my hair colored a solid color (no highlighting) by one person. Then I had my hair cut and dried by another person. My total bill was $113 (no products purchased). How much would you tip each girl?

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

I go to Toni %26amp; Guy as well. I usually ask what the price was for the cut and then the color. Then, I give the colorist 20% of the price for the color and the sylist 20% of the cost for the cut and style. Hope this helps!

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

I would say 5 or 10 each depending on how well you liked it...

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

I would give them 15$ a piece. just like a waitress no tip should be under 20%.

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

Give each girl $7.00 - $10.00 dollars. Anything less would be kinda stingy for that hard of work, so i would go with anything in that range. Hope u like ur hair!! =]

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

If you were completely happy with the work each one did, tip 20% of the cost of each individual service.

If the haircut was $40, tip the haircutter $8.00.

If the color was $75, tip the colorist $15.

How much do you tip your colorist and your stylist?

you should tip just like you tip your server at a restaurant. 10-20% depending on your satisfaction with the work.

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

I went to the Unversity of Michigan, then became a sales rep... had the job I SHOULD have wanted, but got no enjoyment out of it even though I was very good at sales. During this time i've had off, i've decided that I would really enjoy being a hair stylist and I think specifically a hair colorist. What advice does anyone have on picking a school (preferably in michigan), starting over at 26, what options I should look into (spa, salon, renting a chair, etc) and also marketing myself once I get thru school (or does anyone offer cheap hair cuts, etc, while they're in school??). Thanks! :)

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

Career planning is a continuous development process through which we attempt to understand our personal, family, school, work and community experiences and the significance they are likely to have in building career and choice of lifestyle. We need to identify opportunities and to identify options. We need to examine our personal interests and skills as they relate to a variety of career opportunities to help us make appropriate and realistic decisions. Keep in mind that the goal of exploring career is not just employment but a purposeful of integrating our personal interests and values with the kinds of work that are most satisfying for us.

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

I do not think it is a good thing to do in Michigan. There is an over abundunce of hairstylist for no jobs. However if you are finacially stable aand can go for something to fall back on some day I say go for it it is very fun. I went to the Huron Area Tech center In Bad Axe MI

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

Hi. Sounds like you are going to do something you truly like. Since you have a good background, I would attempt to find my way into a spa. They are the nicest jobs, with decent money. You could always rent a chair, build a clientel and then try to move up. Make sure this is what you want to do before you make the switch, go observe a saloon for a day and speak to the workers there. It will be tough to get by on a stylist's wages unless you get very popular. Good luck.

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

look you should do it girl my mom is a hair stylist and she owns her own business she does celebrities hair

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

if your gonna do that i wouldn't just do hair do nails and masseuse i live in northern AL and i would go to a technical college because they have more hands on and less expensive so id go to drake but that's not in Michigan.

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

well i really don't no what to tell you.

i would see if that same college have hair speclitist course. and if you have the money but if you already know the basic and the important stuff you shouldn't have to pay that much money.

Oh and your smiley face is missing a nose. :-)

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

no idea darling

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

Good choice, start out at a well know Spa as this will give you a good reputation %26amp; name for your self, and once qualified practice on family %26amp; friends. Make sure you are placed in a well known School, I cant advice on that as I dont live in America, I live in Australia.Word of mouth will get you your clietelle, if you prove you are very very good at what you do, and do it with confidence, differance and a great imagination. Always keep up with the changers %26amp; trends, even if you have to go to expo's yourself %26amp; most of all enjoy your self. I wish you all the luck on your new career:)

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?

Where can i find a stylist?

Im in desperate need of a makeover! Hair cut, hair color, clothing, makeup everything. My life is changing so much and i need a new look to match.

Im about to graduate college, i just got married, im turning 21, starting an accounting job, and moving in December.

Help...anyone got any suggestions?

Where can i find a stylist?

you can get a make up makeover at a MACYs department store, or a sephora. i really like sephora because there are a lot of people there to help. i use bare minerals :)

as for a hair make over, go to a pro salon and tell them you want a hair make over.

maybe for an overall stylist, check your phone book. or search it on the internet.

stylists in ________

i hope you find one :] make sure your stylist has a good backround of making his/her's clients look good and stuff.

good luck!!!

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

She is in a salon out of town and I drive 40 mins to go to her. This was my second time.I think she is very good at what she does but I feel it's a pretty huge rate increase. As I was in her chair she mentioned her hair cut rate has gone up about $10 but never mentioned thay color has gone up too. What do you think should she have called her client to let me know of the increase?

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

I don't know about the call before hand - It would have been polite since you have to drive so far, but I would have been ticked if she had me in the chair before she told you that. I would find a different stylist and advise her why you are leaving. - -But that's just me.

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

No I don't think she should have called you but the salon should have advised you that they were going to be having a price increase in the following services. And they should have advised you at your last appointment or at the beginning of the appointment you just went to.

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

No, she can't be calling all her clients to let them know of the increase and it was only your second time seeing her. She might send emails in the future. It very hard to find a good hair stylist but only you can decide what's best for you.

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

She should have told you when you called to make the appointment. My hairdresser changed salons and when I called to make the appointment, she gave me the updated details and new prices that she was charging. I kept her anyways because she is good and worth every penny! It's not fair that she waited until you got in the chair to tell you!

Should my stylist have told me she raised her price over $30 before I came to the salon?

well i guess you can consider this is a lesson learned...next time ask..have your prices changed????..before driving across town....but i do believe she should have told you before she started on your hair..or when you called to schedule your appointment

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

So here's the thing: my hair was long, like not like 2 the center of my back but close 2 it..i'm in college now, so it can't get taken care of like it should..my hair started 2 break off, and it's getting shorter and shorter..i kno it's because i cannot get my ends clipped right now. I'm going back home for a visit, and I was considering trying to go to a hairstylist 2 c what can be done 2 it, whether my hair could be saved or not. But if they have 2 cut it (which i wouldn't mind at this point) besides getting my ends clipped, is there another way to get it to grow back? Since I am a student with no job at the moment, i cannot affored to go to a hairstylist every month..so is there any other way until i can actually make another appoint ment w/ a stylist? Appreciate it!

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

Hi Sweet...

...that's why in college alot of ethnic females get some sort of braided style because it last long with little maintenance...

...I would suggest you tell them to save whatever hair they can you may just need a good trim which is what I had...the stylist took off the hair where the ends were so bad that you could see through the hair (comb all the hair to the back and where the ends are so ragedy that you can see your shirt take it off because the hair is damaged)...also learn how to style your hair yourself...ask your stylist to suggest a good shampoo and conditioner and also geet a deep conditioner...Queen Helen makes Cholesterol and it works like a gift from the hair gods...(the one I use is for severely damaged hair and it just leaves your hair silky and shiny)...

...IF you wear your hair down and straight...get a blow dryer with a comb attachment, a wide tooth comb, a curling iron about a 1 inch barrel will do, and some oil sheen, and a paddle brush, and a satin or silk scarf...

...after washing and conditioning your hair...comb it with the wide tooth comb, start from the ends and work your way up take small size sections then blow dry it the combattachment will dry and eliminte tangles at the same time...next take small sections and press then curl your hair...put the hair in the iro like you are going to flip it but instead drag the curling iron all the way down the length of the hair then curl the ends under...and leave it alone...go on to the next section while the curl sets...when the whole head is done...spray SOME oils sheen on your hair and then wrap the hair around your head and secure it with the scarf while you sleep when you brush it down with the paddle brush you will be happy with the results...you will only need the stylist to do trims because you will know how to do your hair yourself...do this every 2-3 weeks you can put it in a pony tail if you want whatever...just wrap it when you sleep...this summer opt for braids to give your hair a rest...if you dont know what wrapping your hair is ask you stylist to show you when you go...I hope this helps you if you purchase these products and learn to take care of your hair yourself it will save you alot of money and don't forget to ask about a good shampoo and conditioner for your hair type...if there is a female in your dorm who knows about hair and how to keep it then ask her if you can take up some of her time to learn how to keep your hair in good shape...when I was in school there were girls who knew how to trim and some knew how to curl and some knew how to braid...I say this to say there may be someone who can help you on your campus (double check their info with your stylist to make sure it's on point if you don't know about haircare yourself to be able to say OK what she's saying is rightor OK what shes saying is wrong)...Good Luck

...alos whn you rinse the conditioner out of your hair rinse it with cool water because that seals the hair cuticle and the conditioner in if you rinse it with hot water it'll be like you never put conditioner in...

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

This will sound disgusting, but my friend who was a hairstylist recommended it to me. Coat your hair in mayonnaise for 20 minutes before taking a shower once a week. The oil and protein will protect your hair and contains nothing that will damage your hair like most conditioners and shampoos. Cutting your hair frequently helps prevent extended breakage due to split ends. Maybe get a very simple style and keep it trimmed by going to a discount (supercuts) hair salon rather than waiting too long and damaging all of your hair.

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

do not use hair dryer that will make hair dry %26amp; break.

also but some olive oil or alamon oil to make it soomth %26amp; would not break use at least once a week for an hour before the shower

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

i see you're taking about.

You need extra conditioner and rogain (use it 3 times a day, more than the recommanded amount

I don't advice you to cut your hair because it may not grow normal ever again because it would distrub the pattern, but here's addition on what you can do: criss-cross your hair and pull it to center so that it will gradually grow back to normal pattern.

:)

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

ask around ,a family friend or a girlfriend of yours.

i say cut it the shortest u will go ,probably to your shoulders and then get it trimmed every 3 months.

try a beauty college.

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

A GREAT shampoo and conditioner is "Mane and Tail."

It helps the hair to grow stronger and longer with little split ends.

It was developed for SHOW HORSES' and a trainers wife, loving the way her horse's mane looked, tried it on her hair. It was a little too strong to start so they started manufacturing a like product for human hair. Just not as strong as the horses'.

I have tried this and my hair was so thick, long and shiny that I got a lot of compliments on it. You don't have to use it too long. Just enough to get your hair back into shape then just maybe once a month.

You will love the results. Then when your hair has gotten its strength back, not breaking off, try a simple hairstyle.

Good luck and happy hair style hunting......

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

Call around to hair schools, they have students cut hair for really really cheap!!! In the meantime, a few things, for overall health, dont blow dry your hair as often if possible, I for instance, will only wash my hair every other day, and on my off day, braid it. Or vice versa, braiding it, and using a soft hair tie to keep it in helps the ends a bit. Also, if you get bored or have time, you can take your hair into strands, swirl them from the middle of your head to the bottom and hold the bottom, then clip away the dead strands that are poking out with regular old siccors. Not clip the ends but when you swirl it, you will see what I mean. Give it a shot! One more thing, when I wash my hair, I use less shampoo than conditioner, cause the shampoo usually strips your hair of its natural oils. When I use my conditioner, I use a pretty good ammount, and let it sit for 3-6 minutes, then use a hotter tempurature water than what was using the whole time to rinse it out :) Hope it works!

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

invest in a good conditioner like biolage...

i went throught the same thing when i was an exchange student in chile(i won the money) and i decided to save a few bucks by buying some cheap shampoo and conditioner...it RUINED MY HAIR!!!! i would run my nails through my hair and all of the ends of my hair would just fall out ... a LOT OF HAIR!!! EVERYDAY!!! basically, i learned to invest in a good conditioner...it makes a HUGE difference...my hair is a lot LOT better and it's only been around 1 month i've been using biolage so far!!!:D
