How long have you "been with" the person who does your hair?

It seems like I can never stay with the same stylist for more than a year. At first I ALWAYS love the person, then about the 3rd or 4th time get a sucky cut, that has to be fixed, or the person can cut but not highlight, or the reverse. Do you take in pictures? How did you find your stylist (if you like the person)?

So far, I have been with my stylist for only two visits. I've been searching for the right stylist for a looooong time. Nobody will cut it, style it and dye it the way I want. I tried so many different places its not even funny.

I have learned that women stylists don't cut and dye your hair the way you want it (at least all the times I went). I'll tell them what to do, and then they end up creating their own style. I get soo mad. I'm paying you to cut my hair, so you should cut it the way I want it, not how you want it. If I wanted you to do it your way, I would have told you!!! (Sorry, they have really ticked me off!)

The person I have now is a man and he does a wonderful job. I've finally found the perfect stylist. He cuts it and dyes it exactly the way I want it. If he has an idea, instead of surprising me with it, he tells me about it to see if I like it. If I don't like his idea, he doesn't try and convince me otherwise. Then when I'm done, he has me look at my hair to make sure I think it is perfect. Now usually when the stylist is done cutting and asks you how you like it, they really don't care if you like it or not. They make you feel uncomfortable for trying to modify it. Not this guy. He is determined to make your hair look perfect. As he is cutting and dying, it really looks like he is trying so hard to do a great job. I'm amazed.

I usually don't bring in pictures, but the last time I went I did. He cut my hair EXACTLY like the picture!

I have sent a friend to him as well, and she loved him.

Surprisingly, a lot of people would never guess to go to this place for a haircut. They are not your typical hair salon. They play rock music (like Deftones, Korn, Ozzy, etc.). Their main clientele are punkish looking people. Some with mohawks and others with brightly colored hair. But there are also your normal looking people there as well. If you are looking for a new stylists, don't let the atmosphere of the salon deter you. You might find a stylist you like where you least expect it. Plus, you could meet some interesting people!

I suffered from hairdresser phobia after a really BAD cut my hairstylist gave me. It was 2 years before I allowed myself a trim. The hairdresser I chose cost more ($50 for a haircut in a town of 500) but it's because of her expertise and background. The mark of a great hairstylist is that each and every time they ask questions to ensure they understand exactly what you're wanting. I flat-out told my hairdresser on my first visit about my past experience and she takes extra care to see that it never happens again.

this is what i would suggset to you -

if you can find someone to cut your hair then use them to cut

use another to color

everyone has their strenghts and weaknesses

if you are set on haveing one person - take a picture around and ask stylist if this is possible with your hair - if they all say yes take another picture until you find someone that tells you no - i wouldnt reccomend you getting that done because your hair is so thin or so thick or that color isnt going to work because you have so many red tones already - its too much of a drastic change i can do it over a four week period -

look for someone that will tell you no ! that means they dont want your hair destroyed and they know what theyre doing - if they say yes to everything - theyre either a magician ( because not all cuts and colors work on everyone ) or theyre liscenced and trained but still dont know what is going on -

I do my own hair. Been doing it since I was thirteen. Nobody knows what you like better than YOU.

That applies in many situations.

I've always gone to the same stylists, so I don't know how my parents found them (there are two that work at the same place). They sometimes cut too short, which I really don't like, but they usually do what I want. They're good a t understanding what I want, usually. Sometimes I bring in pictures, which they like. They say it helps a lot to get exactly what I want.

Don't despair over one bad haircut, every stylist has their bad days. Just use one that you like for the cuts and a different one that you like for the dying.

They come and they go. I don't seem to have any problem with it... unless if I want to be picky :-)

I was going to suggest shaving yourself bald, but not many have the nads to take it ALL off. But the advantage is that you could be any style and color at a moments notice with quality wigs.

I've been with my stylist/colorist for about two years. She works for a woman who owns her own salon and, altogether, there are four stylists there. I went to the big chain sort of salons for a long time and they have such a huge turnover rate I could never get the same person. Plus, the smaller, personally-owned salons are usually cheaper and my stylist always remembers how I like my hair done.

I found her just because my parents have been going to that place for 15-20 years and I was complaining about the JCPenney salon one day and my mom mentioned her stylist had just hired a new colorist. I get a TON of compliments on my hair, even several weeks after I get it highlighted!

To find someone great, I suggest that whenever you see someone with an amazing cut or a fantastic highlighting job, ask them where they get their hair done %26amp; how long they've been using that person, then try the place. Good luck!
