Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

So here's the thing: my hair was long, like not like 2 the center of my back but close 2 it..i'm in college now, so it can't get taken care of like it should..my hair started 2 break off, and it's getting shorter and shorter..i kno it's because i cannot get my ends clipped right now. I'm going back home for a visit, and I was considering trying to go to a hairstylist 2 c what can be done 2 it, whether my hair could be saved or not. But if they have 2 cut it (which i wouldn't mind at this point) besides getting my ends clipped, is there another way to get it to grow back? Since I am a student with no job at the moment, i cannot affored to go to a hairstylist every month..so is there any other way until i can actually make another appoint ment w/ a stylist? Appreciate it!

Cutting your hair and letting it grow out?

Hi Sweet...

...that's why in college alot of ethnic females get some sort of braided style because it last long with little maintenance...

...I would suggest you tell them to save whatever hair they can you may just need a good trim which is what I had...the stylist took off the hair where the ends were so bad that you could see through the hair (comb all the hair to the back and where the ends are so ragedy that you can see your shirt take it off because the hair is damaged)...also learn how to style your hair yourself...ask your stylist to suggest a good shampoo and conditioner and also geet a deep conditioner...Queen Helen makes Cholesterol and it works like a gift from the hair gods...(the one I use is for severely damaged hair and it just leaves your hair silky and shiny)...

...IF you wear your hair down and straight...get a blow dryer with a comb attachment, a wide tooth comb, a curling iron about a 1 inch barrel will do, and some oil sheen, and a paddle brush, and a satin or silk scarf...

...after washing and conditioning your hair...comb it with the wide tooth comb, start from the ends and work your way up take small size sections then blow dry it the combattachment will dry and eliminte tangles at the same time...next take small sections and press then curl your hair...put the hair in the iro like you are going to flip it but instead drag the curling iron all the way down the length of the hair then curl the ends under...and leave it alone...go on to the next section while the curl sets...when the whole head is done...spray SOME oils sheen on your hair and then wrap the hair around your head and secure it with the scarf while you sleep when you brush it down with the paddle brush you will be happy with the results...you will only need the stylist to do trims because you will know how to do your hair yourself...do this every 2-3 weeks you can put it in a pony tail if you want whatever...just wrap it when you sleep...this summer opt for braids to give your hair a rest...if you dont know what wrapping your hair is ask you stylist to show you when you go...I hope this helps you if you purchase these products and learn to take care of your hair yourself it will save you alot of money and don't forget to ask about a good shampoo and conditioner for your hair type...if there is a female in your dorm who knows about hair and how to keep it then ask her if you can take up some of her time to learn how to keep your hair in good shape...when I was in school there were girls who knew how to trim and some knew how to curl and some knew how to braid...I say this to say there may be someone who can help you on your campus (double check their info with your stylist to make sure it's on point if you don't know about haircare yourself to be able to say OK what she's saying is rightor OK what shes saying is wrong)...Good Luck

...alos whn you rinse the conditioner out of your hair rinse it with cool water because that seals the hair cuticle and the conditioner in if you rinse it with hot water it'll be like you never put conditioner in...

This will sound disgusting, but my friend who was a hairstylist recommended it to me. Coat your hair in mayonnaise for 20 minutes before taking a shower once a week. The oil and protein will protect your hair and contains nothing that will damage your hair like most conditioners and shampoos. Cutting your hair frequently helps prevent extended breakage due to split ends. Maybe get a very simple style and keep it trimmed by going to a discount (supercuts) hair salon rather than waiting too long and damaging all of your hair.

do not use hair dryer that will make hair dry %26amp; break.

also but some olive oil or alamon oil to make it soomth %26amp; would not break use at least once a week for an hour before the shower

i see you're taking about.

You need extra conditioner and rogain (use it 3 times a day, more than the recommanded amount

I don't advice you to cut your hair because it may not grow normal ever again because it would distrub the pattern, but here's addition on what you can do: criss-cross your hair and pull it to center so that it will gradually grow back to normal pattern.

ask around ,a family friend or a girlfriend of yours.

i say cut it the shortest u will go ,probably to your shoulders and then get it trimmed every 3 months.

try a beauty college.

A GREAT shampoo and conditioner is "Mane and Tail."

It helps the hair to grow stronger and longer with little split ends.

It was developed for SHOW HORSES' and a trainers wife, loving the way her horse's mane looked, tried it on her hair. It was a little too strong to start so they started manufacturing a like product for human hair. Just not as strong as the horses'.

I have tried this and my hair was so thick, long and shiny that I got a lot of compliments on it. You don't have to use it too long. Just enough to get your hair back into shape then just maybe once a month.

You will love the results. Then when your hair has gotten its strength back, not breaking off, try a simple hairstyle.

Good luck and happy hair style hunting......

Call around to hair schools, they have students cut hair for really really cheap!!! In the meantime, a few things, for overall health, dont blow dry your hair as often if possible, I for instance, will only wash my hair every other day, and on my off day, braid it. Or vice versa, braiding it, and using a soft hair tie to keep it in helps the ends a bit. Also, if you get bored or have time, you can take your hair into strands, swirl them from the middle of your head to the bottom and hold the bottom, then clip away the dead strands that are poking out with regular old siccors. Not clip the ends but when you swirl it, you will see what I mean. Give it a shot! One more thing, when I wash my hair, I use less shampoo than conditioner, cause the shampoo usually strips your hair of its natural oils. When I use my conditioner, I use a pretty good ammount, and let it sit for 3-6 minutes, then use a hotter tempurature water than what was using the whole time to rinse it out :) Hope it works!

invest in a good conditioner like biolage...

i went throught the same thing when i was an exchange student in chile(i won the money) and i decided to save a few bucks by buying some cheap shampoo and conditioner...it RUINED MY HAIR!!!! i would run my nails through my hair and all of the ends of my hair would just fall out ... a LOT OF HAIR!!! EVERYDAY!!! basically, i learned to invest in a good conditioner...it makes a HUGE difference...my hair is a lot LOT better and it's only been around 1 month i've been using biolage so far!!!:D
